Process Viscometers

Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress. In everyday terms (and for fluids only), viscosity is “thickness” or “internal friction”. Thus, water is “thin”, having a low viscosity, while honey is “thick”, having a higher viscosity. Put simply, the less viscous the fluid is, the greater its ease of movement (fluidity).
ATAC offers the most versatile range available. ATAC is the only manufacturer to offer a process viscometer to measure very high viscosity fluids including those that behave in both a Newtonian (model 1077) and non Newtonian way (models 491 and 421).

Key Features Model 1077

  • Narrow bore capillary for Newtonian fluids
  • Zone 1 IIB+H2 hazardous area rating without the need of purge air
  • Direct impulse lines to DP transmitter

Key Features Model 491

  • Wide bore capillary suitable for both Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Samples.
  • Zone 1 IIB+H2 hazardous area rating without the need of purge air.
  • Diaphragm seals protect impulse lines to DP transmitter.

The Hallikainen Model 421 Viscometer is a completely automated process stream analyser which can be suited to offer a number of ranges.

The wide bore capillaries designed to suit highly viscous non Newtonian applications complement the 491 and 1077 models to meet all your viscosity measurement needs.

Key Features Model 421

  • Three separate capillaries  for measurement of up to three viscosity ranges.
  • Zone 1 IIB+H2 hazardous area rating without the need of purge air.
  • Diaphragm seals protect impulse lines to DP transmitter.
