We are seeking an organised and proactive Production Controller with purchasing experience to support production planning, materials control, and procurement activities across the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials, components, and production schedules are effectively managed to support on-time delivery and efficient manufacturing operations.

Role Overview

To program, set, and operate Haas CNC machines (mills and lathes) to manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program CNC machines using G-code and CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, INVENTOR) 
  • Set up and operate Haas CNC milling machines and lathes 
  • Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and work instructions 
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters 
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues 
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment 
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance 
  • Work to production schedules and meet deadlines 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with CNC mills and/or lathes (preferable Haas)
  • Skilled in G-code programming 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings 
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360)
  • Knowledge of materials (e.g., aluminium, steel, plastics and exotic steels) 
  • Familiarity with measuring equipment (micrometres, verniers, gauges) 
  • Probing tool and offset 
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience in prototyping or small-batch production 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Multi-axis machining experience 
  • Experience with live tooling lathes (Y-axis and driven tools)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles 

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship in Engineering / Manufacturing (preferred) 
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or CNC Machining 
  • Relevant certifications in CNC programming (advantageous) 
  • Or relevant demonstrable experience
