To help our customers use the NuLine Cone & Plate Viscometer properly, and to avoid any mishaps, we have decided to provide a comprehensive instructional video on our website. This week, we filmed the video and it will soon be available on the website and the ATAC YouTube channel.

Engineering Director Ross Davies oversees the filming of the instructional video
Viscometer Instructions – Setting the Viscometer up properly
We wanted to ensure that our customers could have the viscometer set up and ready to go quickly and without fuss. In particular, we wanted to show what you might expect to find in the box. Then we wanted to show how to safely lift the viscometer out of the box, to avoid damaging the head of the Viscometer (lifting by the head is not good news for the cone and plate alignment).
The video goes on to demonstrate calibration and operation. The beauty of the NuLine is that it comes pre-calibrated – it is genuinely ready to use once it has been taken out of the box. Everything you need for its operation is included: UK and International power leads, six cones and six corresponding sets of calibration oils, hex key for cone setting, the Fluke temperature calibration kit, thermocouple and grease, the Windows-based PC software, and the manual and calibration certificate.
Let’s face it. There are very few bundles on the market that are this comprehensive. There is no need to purchase these essentials as ‘accessories’, adding to the time and expense it takes just to order what is required.
Viscometer Instructions – Adding to the Manual
Of course, the video does not replace the manual. Every machine comes with a comprehensive manual that covers everything you might need to know about set-up and operation. It will be an easy to reference video lasting about 4 minutes that will give you the visual viscometer instructions you will need.
Video Magic – who was responsible?
It would be remiss of me not to mention those involved in creating these viscometer instructions in video-form. First and foremost, I need to give a shout out to Tribal Edits, the company to whom we have entrusted this project. Central to that is David Cooper: this is his second project for me in the last few years, and I suspect he will be involved in many more, such is his talent. Together with David was Nathaniel Barker-Duggan, the videographer, whose skill and attention to detail will be obvious in the final cut.
Then there are the members of the ATAC Team who contributed so brilliantly to the shoot. Matthew Gay and Tony Crawford started the day as technical advisors, making sure that the machine was being demonstrated properly. However, as the day wore on, they became creative directors and, in Tony’s case, a model in front of the camera. It is on days like these that the enthusiasm and technical skills of our production team comes into its own. Thank you both for you invaluable input.
I should also add thanks to Ross Davies, our esteemed Engineering Director, for his input, especially into the preparations for the shoot. And to our Managing Director, Ray Browne, who is also in front of the camera demonstrating the Windows-based PC software. Thank you both for your part in bringing the viscometer instructions to life.
